Science of Incarnations
Here is my second blog. This time I have come with another fact to support my argument that Hinduism was not a religion as it is considered now.
It will be a matter of great enthusiasm to all to know how the ancient Yugas match with the modern Quantum mechanical era.
Stories are the best medium to convince anything to anyone. The best example is the Panchatantra stories. Nobody ever questioned whether a lion can talk like a human being; nobody ever asked for proof. So the ancient scientists considered it as the best medium to convey their findings to the public. In this blog I will be taking one paradigm - ‘The evolution or the incarnations’
The ancient scientist Veda Vyasa conceived the course of evolution from its beginning though a proof as the modern science calls for was not appeared imperative at that time. Rather he compiled his concept into a story: the Srimad Bhagavata Purana. He has described the whole evolution with the help of 10 epitomes whom he attributed as the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. (In my coming blogs I will write about what lord Vishnu really conceptualise).
The first incarnation: Matsya( the fish)
The starting of the evolution of the complex human structure was from the water. That means the aquatic animals were the first living beings. So Veda Vyasa took fish as the first incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In modern science, this era is known as the palaeozoic era
The second incarnation: koorma( the turtle)
After that aquatic animals evolved and they developed the ability to live on the land also, they are known as the amphibians. Veda Vyasa found it best to take turtle as an example for amphibians. This era is the Cenozoic era.
The third incarnation: Varaha( the pig)
Then these amphibians began inhabiting only on the land and they developed into new species known as the terrestrial animals. This incarnation(evolution) was also a representation of the fact that henceforth the evolution of the beings will be quadruped. Veda Vyasa took pig as a symbol to explain this era known as the Cenozoic era.
The 4th incarnation: Narasimha (the man-lion)
Here starts the development of the complex structure of human beings. This stage is where the transformation of an animal to human takes place. The species in this stage are not a human or an animal; not only in terms of physical appearance but also the behaviour, that’s why Veda Vyasa called it the Narasimha meaning the man-lion. This era is also known as the Cenozoic era.
The 5th incarnation: Vamana( the small man)
The first humans who evolved from the Narasimha stage were dwarfs. They had small limbs and feet. That’s why Veda Vyasa called him Vamana or the small man.
The 6th incarnation: Parashurama( the warrior)
After this evolution, he learned to hunt other beings for his survival. That’s why Vyasa gave him axe as his weapon. Though he incarnated as a complete human his mannerism was yet to be refined. Vyasa called him Parashurama or the hunter.
The 7th incarnation: Sree Rama( The perfect man)
At this stage, he has evolved into a human with refined mannerism. In this stage, he started living as a family with emotions towards them which was not seen in any of the species before this stage. At this incarnation(evolution) his quality of living and mannerisms was fully developed.
The 8th incarnation: Balarama
The weapon given to him is plough because at this stage he started cultivating lands for his livelihood. He can be considered as a normal human being.
The 9th incarnation: Sree Krishna( the complete human)
At this stage, he became a complete human with all kind of emotions, especially love which was not seen until this evolution. He was the complete intellect. This incarnation represents the evolution of the human mind and also the beginning of doom.
The 10th incarnation: Khalki
This is the ongoing evolution of the human race.
With the help of each of these characters, Veda Vyasa tried to explain a bunch of scientific facts also with the help of many stories about which I will be writing in my coming blogs.
With all these stories he wrote the book Srimad Bhagavata Purana. Later, the artists personified all these 10 incarnations. It, in my opinion, was a mythical fallacy. The common folk believes that Lord Vishnu incarnated as a fish, turtle, pig and all in real time. But in fact Veda Vyasa never made that sense. When he talked about fish he did not talk about a particular fish but about the species as a whole.During the era of fish, the fish didn’t know that they are the God until their next evolution took place. Similarly, we are waiting for Lord Vishnu to incarnate on earth again, forgetting the fact that we ourselves are the 10th incarnation, due to the inclusiveness.
Then what is that 'matter' in this godly incarnation? And that matter matters.
I will enthuse to decode this matter too, in my coming blogs.

ReplyDeleteWow Pranav, I am literally amazed after reading this blog. Your writtings are changing my view of thinking. Please continue writting.
ReplyDeleteJust have a doubt,
How did the Indian saints were able to know that the earth was round. And what were their observations that made them confident on the shape of Earth.
Kindly clarify my doubt and if possible make a detailed blog over it.
Thanks!
