Transcending into a supreme bliss
The great spectrum of the certitude of OHM has been shrunken into a diminished aperture in the existing abridged religious vision of the great Indian way of thinking and conventions.
From the commencement of the human era, this complex and elegant universe always surfaced as an enigma. In this 21st century where we are dancing at the zenith of technology, still haven’t reached anywhere close to the answer. Scientists are working 24/7 questing for keys to unravel different secrets governing the micro and the macro worlds.
Scientists, as a general perception, fail to identify the human as a part of this cosmos. A huge banyan tree comes from a very tiny seed but all the information regarding every attributes of the tree is encoded in its seed. So instead of the meritless travel towards the edge of this endless universe to solve the mysteries, had we started a journey into ourselves we could conceive our universal identity more easily and precisely.
This is what Vedas do - extraction of knowledge from the inner self. The knowledge that we attain from the Vedas is actually immeasurable or unexplainable. Vedas are not read, they are learned. Reading Vedas is meaningless unless one experiences it. The true knowledge we attain from Vedas may not elevate us to a higher social acknowledgement but to the core of self identification and supreme bliss.
Vedas or Sruti are collection of mantras recited with different modulations of sound and also devised with the larger scheme for the auto-stimulation of different energy centres(chakras) in our body. However, studying and understanding Vedas is not easy for all, so there exists the syllable OHM which can be considered as the most compact form of the Vedas.
The core of Vedic concepts are beyond the spectrum of linguistic commentary. It is an intrinsic awareness through transcendental conceptualization of the substance in the Vedas.
But why OHM, not any other syllable!
The sound form (shabda bhawa) of OHM constitutes in three nature, 2 full sounds A ( अ ) and U ( उ ), a half sound or anunasika M ( म् ) representing the past – present – future, that is, the existence – consciousness- bliss (Sat-Chit-Ananda swaroopam). (We may speak about this in our later blogs). It has the fourth dimension, that is a soundless form( ॰ ), which transcends the three dimensions of time into an immeasurable and eternal nature. That is, A( अ ) – U( उ ) – M( म् ) are considered as 3 Matras of sound and their soundless end is Amatra, which is beyond any name and form.
In practice we feel that the three component sounds in OHM have their sprouting and development in different parts of our body. Scientifically speaking, if one observes, it can be experienced that the first sound A( अ ) originates from the depth of the naval area. (Shastras named this originating area as the Solar plexus or Swadishthana Chakra. This terms again need deeper level of studies). It happens in an awakened state (Jagrat avastha as the Shastras pronounces). Thereafter we feel that the sound rises and manifests. It is experienced that the second and third sounds, the U( उ ) and M( म् ), bloom at stages of palate and lips respectively. One experiences the sound U( उ ) in a dream-sleep state (Swapna Avastha) and M( म् ) in a dreamless-sleep state (Sushupti Avastha). The fourth state at the end of these three stages is a silence (Turiya Avastha), where all these different forms transcends into the immeasurable and eternal form. It is the state of boundless consciousness.
Scientifically, the sound of OHM is generated as the primitive cognisance before we speak any word. Therefore OHM is the unique underlying sound in every word. More precisely, OHM is the supreme unification of all the different sounds originating in the human body or, in a larger perception, the cosmic body. Shastras termed OHM as Sarvaa Shabda Pradeekam, means the Universal symbol of all sounds.
This great spectrum of the certitude of OHM has been shrunken into a diminished aperture in the existing abridged religious vision of the great Indian way of thinking and conventions. One should here understand that the association of the symbol of OHM with the images of Gods and Goddesses or temples is to illuminate the wholeness of the absolute truth that it beholds.
So the chanting of OHM is a simple way to transcend our human limits and to move into the inner self to experience the ultimate bliss. And it is at this acme of bliss that the Vedas reveal their finality and spirit of science and the untaught supreme awareness.
In the upcoming blogs I will elucidate the above concepts in depth.
I suggest to read my previous blogs on the same subject Science and Religion:

ReplyDeletePpj good going
ReplyDeleteThank you for this!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much wrong with this, it would take me a significant amount of time to point each and everyone of them out. So I will just mention the two most disturbing ones:
ReplyDelete1) Humans are NOT the seeds of the cosmos. The banyan tree seed and humans as seed of the cosmos analogy is totally flawed. There is nothing special about us, no the cosmos is not guarding us. We are extremely insignificant.
2) "Meritless travel to the edge of the endless universe to solve mysteries"
Meritless? So you say, writing a blog on a device that is the result HUNDREDS of years of "meritless" explorations. Seems like you're willing to choose the lazier option
Good going
Science and religion are not compatible. Religion is the cumulative of thousands of years of observing lives of humans and society by wise men, and penning down the best of them for everyone to learn from, and live accordingly.
Science is the study of NATURE and its PHYSICAL workings NOT SPIRITUAL like religion.
The Vedas are a great source of knowledge, but this kind of baseless appropriation over science just to sound "modern" and "21st century" is an insult to the thousands of years old texts, and also to thousands of men and women who have dedicated their lives towards sciences.
The question is can finding out "who we are" and related spiritual inquiries will help us in development of science and technology ? Because the inner journey (i suppose) takes time . So how can we do both ( science and spirituality) as they seem to take very different approach?
ReplyDeleteThanks for this amazing blog, there are people who still believes there is only one way to see this universe, that is, in terms of science. Science is just a small concept of universe not the other way round , once we enter the world of spirituality (not religion) we will be able to see and experience what science has now failed to explain (hoping it would give answers one day, and it will for sure) but with spirituality we have all the answers within us

ReplyDeleteOHM, Amen, Ameen are all same. However Ohm kara resonates more in the body thereby rejuvenating the soul. The other two works directly on soul and keeps the body in control. This is my own observation and has no other references. Anyone can oppose but I will stand by what I found.
ReplyDeletePranav, a very good attempt and may God bless you to achieve greater heights.

ReplyDeleteI had gone through earlier blogs of Pranav too... What is special about him is that what he wants to tell the reader, he writes in a convincing way.... The very outset of the blog was impressive... In order to know the huge banyan tree, one should look into the seed, where the attributes of the banyan tree have been encoded.... Our searching eyes should be focused to the inner 'I' to know the truth.... This inward journey to the inner 'I" may not be that much deeper in his exploration to 'OHM', but the direction is meaningful... Nicely written.... Keep on writing... Stimulate others too, to begin their spiritual exploration... Especially to the inner 'I'... Best wishes Pranav
ReplyDeleteGood work. Keep it up Pranav.
